Man City set to offer new contract to Rodri with Madrid in the wings

Rodrigo Hernandez is a crucial player at Manchester City. If anyone had any doubts, it is evident from the English team's last season, during which the midfielder was injured for the entire year. Without him, the team's structure collapsed, leaving Guardiola's players vulnerable.

This summer, after recovering, his name has been linked with Real Madrid, to which the English club has responded quickly. They want to renew his contract as soon as possible with a deal until 2029.

Rodri's current contract with Manchester City expires in June 2027, meaning he is entering the final two years of his deal. If no agreement is reached, he could leave next summer, the last in which the British club would receive financial compensation.

That is why the club managed by Pep Guardiola has already got down to work, according to Fabrizio Romano. And the offer, for two more years than he has signed, comes with a hefty pay rise.

Rodri would become the second highest paid player in the Manchester City squad, behind only Erling Haaland. Currently, according to data from ‘Capology’, he is in ninth place with £11.4 million per year, but behind other players such as Grealish (£15.6 million), Stones (£13 million), and Gündogan (£11.9 million).
