Uruguayan centre-back Ronald Araujo assured on Tuesday that he does not believe he has had a great season, although he was happy for the three titles he achieved at a collective level with Barcelona.
He told the press upon his arrival in Uruguay to join the national team coached by Argentine Marcelo Bielsa, with an eye on the matches against Paraguay and Venezuela in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
“I am happy to be here once again. Happy for all the titles we won this season. Personally I think it was not a great season, especially because of the injury, it killed me. I was out of action for a long time, but I'm happy because I have three titles in my pocket,” he said.
On the other hand, he assured that he is in a good physical and mental condition and warned that if he is fit he can compete against anyone.
“Being out of action for so long has bothered me a little bit. I always want to play. I've always played since I arrived at Barcelona and when you don't play you feel a little less confident. But it's part of my career. I'm playing in one of the best clubs in the world, I'm one of the captains of the team,” he said.
In the 2024-25 season, Barca won La Liga title, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
