Spurs shut 'many mouths' after claiming Europa League glory, says Romero

Argentine Cuti Romero, ‘MVP’ of the Europa League final, assured that, with Wednesday's victory over United in Bilbao, Tottenham shut "many mouths" and has ended a season that was not going well "in the best way".
"It was a tough season for us. The truth is that we deserved to end like this because nobody knows what happens behind closed doors. But beyond everything we always put up a good fight. We had too many injuries and there was always bad talk about this team and the coach. We shut many mouths," he told 'Movistar Liga de Campeones' after the match.
"Beyond that we are very happy because we played a good game. We deserved to finish like this. In the end we closed a season that looked like it was going very badly, but we closed a great one with an European title and we are very happy with that," he continued.
"The things that are said outside the club I can't stop them and neither can I be clarifying all the time, because I always gave 100% for this shirt. The affection I receive day after day at the club shows me that they love me very much. I love this club very much, I achieved a very big goal," he said.
"Tottenham had not lifted a trophy for many years and I came with the mentality of making history, which is the only way to leave my name engraved. It was like that and I achieved it. So I'm very happy and now it's time to enjoy it with my teammates and my family, who I owe everything to," concluded the Argentine international centre-back.
