Simeone to miss Atletico's La Liga 25-26 opener

Atletico Madrid coach Simeone and seven La Liga players have been handed one-match suspensions by the Disciplinary Committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) following the final matchday of La Liga EA Sports 2024-25.
Simeone has been suspended for accumulation of cautions and will not be on the bench for the first matchday of next season. This measure only affects this competition, so El Cholo will be able to take charge of the PSG-Atlético game on 15 June, when Los Rojiblancos open their Club World Cup campaign, without any problems.
There is still no official confirmation of when the next EA Sports La Liga season will start, let alone the calendar. Forecasts, taking into account the FIFA event between June and July, place the first matchday of the 2025-26 campaign on the weekend of 16-17 August.
Simeone's situation also applies to seven other La Liga players. These are Hugo Duro (Valencia), Natan de Souza (Betis), Adnan Januzaj (Las Palmas), Hugo Sotelo (Celta), Omar Mascarell (Mallorca) and Yuri Berchiche (Athletic). Meanwhile, Getafe's Portuguese defender Domingos Duarte has been suspended with a one-match ban after being sent off against Celta.
