Salah crowned Premier League Player of the Season for 2024/25

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been named the Premier League Player of the Season for 2024/25, becoming only the fifth player in history to win the award more than once.

Salah, who first won the accolade in the 2017/18 campaign, joins an elite group that includes Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nemanja Vidic and Kevin De Bruyne. Next season, he will look to become the first player to claim the award three times.

The Egyptian has been instrumental in Liverpool's title-winning campaign. He has so far scored 28 goals and provided 18 assists, just two short of the joint record held by Henry and De Bruyne.

At 32, Salah has become the third-highest goalscorer in Liverpool's history, with 244 goals, and is now the fifth-highest scorer in Premier League history, with 185 strikes – behind only Alan Shearer (260), Harry Kane (213), Wayne Rooney (208) and Andy Cole (187).

He has also become the highest-scoring foreign player in Premier League history, surpassing Sergio Aguero's 184 goals.

The award was decided by a combination of public votes and a panel of football experts. Salah topped a shortlist that included his teammates Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch, as well as Morgan Gibbs-White, Alexander Isak, Bryan Mbeumo, Declan Rice and Chris Wood.

His selection ends a five-season run of Manchester City players winning the award – with previous winners including De Bruyne (twice), Ruben Dias, Erling Haaland and Phil Foden.
