OFFICIAL: Ex-Man Utd coach Erik ten Hag takes over at Leverkusen

Leverkusen have found their successor to Xabi Alonso. The Spanish tactician bade an emotional farewell to the club's supporters after three memorable seasons, and the German side have now confirmed his replacement.
On Monday, Leverkusen officially announced the arrival of Erik ten Hag, who returns to the dugout following a disappointing spell at Manchester United.
Ten Hag has signed a two-year contract, tying him to the club until 2027. He will be at the helm of the project in a season when Leverkusen will return to the Champions League, having finished second in the 2024/25 Bundesliga campaign.
Ten Hag made his name on the European stage with the Ajax side that reached the Champions League semi-finals, driven by a golden generation. In 2022, he was chosen by Manchester United to steer a faltering project that ultimately failed to take off. His tenure at Old Trafford proved underwhelming.
His record with United stands at 70 wins, 23 draws and 35 defeats, with two trophies to his name - the EFL Cup in 2022/23 and the FA Cup in the 2023/24 season.
"Bayer Leverkusen is one of Germany's best clubs and belongs among Europe's elite. The club offers excellent conditions, and the conversations with the board have left a huge impression on me," said Ten Hag in his first words as the new Leverkusen manager.
