Mkhitaryan sets sight on historic European hat-trick

On Saturday night in Munich, Henrikh Mkhitaryan could be coronated king with a triple crown. The Inter Milan midfielder faces Paris Saint-Germain, with not only a Champions League final at stake, but also the opportunity to make history.
Having won the Europa League and the Conference League, Mkhitaryan could become the first player to complete a hat-trick of European trophies should he win Europe's elite club competition at the Allianz Arena against the Parisians.
The first of the lot came in 2017, when he conquered the Europa League with Jose Mourinho's Manchester United. The Armenian scored in the 48th minute to seal a 2-0 victory against Ajax and lift his first European trophy in Sweden.
Five years after that glorious night at the Strawberry Arena, Mkhitaryan went on to earn Conference League glory with Roma in 2022. The Special One was again at the helm for this one, guiding the Giallorossi to victory in the first edition of the competition.
The former Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal star was not able to get on the scoresheet on that occasion. Nicolo Zaniolo found the winning goal against Feyenoord to seal the result at 1-0 and bring silverware back to Rome for the first time since 2008.
Two European trophies are under his belt, but he now sets his sights on a third. Mkhitaryan failed to conquer the Champions League in his first attempt in 2023, although he only played six minutes in that 1-0 defeat to Manchester City. He will aim not to let a second chance go to waste.
