Liverpool coach Slot responds to Deco: "I admire Yamal and Raphinha too"

With the summer transfer window approaching, Barcelona are already laying the groundwork for next season. While renewals – particularly that of teenage sensation Lamine Yamal – are high on the agenda at the Camp Nou offices, the La Liga champions are also scanning the market for potential reinforcements to bolster Hansi Flick's new-look squad.
One name strongly linked in recent days is that of Colombian international Luis Diaz, who has enjoyed a standout season at Anfield. Deco recently spoke glowingly of the forward, describing him as a player he greatly admires – remarks widely interpreted as a signal of the club's interest.
Slot, who officially took over from Jurgen Klopp this summer, was asked about Deco's comments during a media appearance and responded in typically dry Dutch fashion.
"Every club has its own way of doing things," he began. "I think by now you're used to me not speaking about players from other clubs unless we've actually signed them. I understand why he's such a big fan of Luis Diaz – I am too."
Then came the playful jab. "Luis is a top player who's had a great season. If he'd just said he admired Salah and Gakpo too, maybe that would've covered more ground. Or did he not mention them?" Slot joked. "He said he admired a few players – well, I admire Lamine Yamal and Raphinha."
Diaz has indeed enjoyed his finest campaign since arriving at Liverpool, notching 17 goals and providing five assists across all competitions. His performances have inevitably drawn attention, with Barcelona reportedly keeping close tabs as they seek fresh options in attack.
