200 Man United staff members risk axe days after Europa collapse

Just days after Man United lost 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final in Bilbao, a new wave of job cuts has hit the club. 200 staff members are at risk of redundancy and will be informed of their fate this week, 'The Daily Mail' and 'The Telegraph' report.
Defeat at the San Mames not only saw the Red Devils pass up the opportunity to win silverware, but also to earn entry into next season's Champions League, and with it £100million in revenue. Man United will not participate in any European competition for the first time since 2014/15.
The club's finances were already under scrutiny before the final, as co-owner Jim Ratcliffe has implemented swingeing cuts since buying a minority stake just over a year ago. Ratcliffe claimed in March that Man United would have "run out of money at Christmas" without that action.
Understandably, there are growing concerns over United's financial situation, bringing morale down to an all-time low at Old Trafford, both on and off the pitch. Manchester United posted net losses of more than £370million in the five years up to June 2024.
